A pregnant woman in Madhya Pradesh was allegedly forced to clean a bloodstained hospital bed after her husband died. The incident, which occurred on October 31, sparked outrage and led to disciplinary action against the involved medical staff after a video of the incident went viral.
The Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Dindori has taken disciplinary action against several hospital staff members.
The incident occurred at Gardasari Primary Health Centre, where a 5-month pregnant woman, who had lost her husband, was reportedly asked to clean a hospital bed stained with her husband's blood. The incident drew widespread condemnation, prompting an inquiry by health authorities.
After the woman’s relatives raised a formal complaint, an immediate investigation was launched. Following the preliminary findings, Medical Officer Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, who was stationed at the Gardasari facility, has been transferred to the Karanjia Community Health Center until further notice.
Additionally, Nursing Officer Rajkumari Maravi and ward attendant Chhoti Bai Thakur have been suspended with immediate effect.
Dr Maravi stated that notices have been issued to all staff members involved, and their responses will be forwarded to the District Magistrate for further action.
